Services

The Waupun Public Library offers several other services for our patrons, including reference services, interlibrary loan and meeting room use.  See below for more information.

Getting a Library Card
To obtain a library card, a Driver’s License or State Identification Card is required.  We will accept out-of-state Driver’s Licenses and State Identification Cards; however, you will also need to bring in a piece of mail with your current address on it, and we ask that when you obtain a Wisconsin Driver’s License or Wisconsin State Identification Card that you notify us so we can change your record.  Additionally, if your Wisconsin ID does not have your current address, you will also need to bring in a piece of mail with your current address on it.

We are directly connected with 53 public and school libraries in the following counties: Dodge, Jefferson, Racine, Washington and Walworth.  If you have a card from one of these libraries, it will work at the Waupun Public Library with no need to register.  If there are fines over $1.00 on your card from any of these locations, you must pay your fine down to $1.00 before you are allowed to check out material or use our Internet computers.

Children six years and older can also obtain a library card.  A parent or legal guardian must be present when the child (under the age of 18) fills out the registration form.  The parent must sign giving permission to the child to obtain the card; permission is also required for the child to check out Compact Discs and PG-13, R, and unrated Videos and DVDs,  and for use of the library’s Internet computers and wireless Internet service.  Also required is the Driver’s License or State Identification Card of the parent or legal guardian, with proof of current address.

Please view our Circulation Policy and Internet Use Policy for more information.

Reference and Interlibrary Loan
The Waupun Public Library provides reference services.  Please see our Genealogy page for information related to Genealogy.  All other questions, ranging from simple to complex, can be answered (or at least attempted) by library staff.  Please call us at 920-324-7925 or email at wpl@mwfls.org with questions you need answers to.

The Waupun Public Library also offers interlibrary loan service to our patrons.  We are a member of the SHARE library consortium, which consists of 53 public libraries, school libraries and public library systems located in Dodge, Jefferson, Racine, Walworth and Washington counties.  Using the online catalog, you can place direct holds on items and they will be delivered to the Waupun Public Library for use.  If you cannot find what you are looking for in the SHARE catalog, we will search other resources and attempt to locate and borrow items from other libraries.  We search WISCAT and Worldcat to locate resources.  These websites can be searched by patrons; however, requests for the items must come through the library staff.  You can submit an Interlibrary Loan request by using the Interlibrary Loan form located on the Reference Services page within the SHARE online catalog, you can email us at wpl@mwfls.org, you can call us at 920-324-7925 or you can visit us and fill out an Interlibrary Loan form at the Circulation Desk.

In connection with Interlibrary Loan, the Waupun Public Library obtains books for the Waupun Public Library Book Club that meets at the library on the third Monday of every month at 10:00 am.  If you are interested in finding out more information about the book club or if you’d like to join, please contact the library at 920-324-7925 or email at wpl@mwfls.org.

Friends of Waupun Library
FOWL (Friends of Waupun Library) is a volunteer group dedicated to helping the Library. The group’s major fund-raising efforts are monthly book sales, held on the second Monday of every month.  Presently, all sales run from 10:00 am – 6:00 p.m.

The group has sponsored many interesting programs including talks by various authors, educators and professionals, and also donates funds to the library for the purchase of materials.  Additionally, one of our Friends group members offers home delivery of materials to patrons that cannot visit the library.  Call the library at 920-324-7925 for more information on book delivery.

If you’d like to join the fun and give FOWL a hand, call the library at 920-324-7925 or email wpl@mwfls.org.

Meeting Rooms
The Waupun Public Library has three meeting rooms for use by the public; two smaller rooms that will accommodate 10-15 people comfortably and one larger room that can accommodate up to around 80 people.  The rooms are currently free of charge, but there are some limitations regarding what type of meetings or events can be held in the rooms.  Please see the Conference Room Policy and call 920-324-7925 or email wpl@mwfls.org with questions and to reserve a room.
